Stages Post-doctoral or graduate fellowship in qualitative research, gender studies, kidney transplantation, and living kidney donation

Dr. Shaifali Sandal is a CIHR and FRQS health services researcher at the Research Institute of the McGill University and her clinical expertise is transplant nephrology. Her research focuses on improving outcomes of patients with kidney failure and living kidney donors.

Dr Sandal is currently seeking a graduate student to lead a project that focuses on conducting a gender analysis of living kidney donors (LKDs). LKDs are healthy individuals who donate one of their kidneys to a patient with kidney failure. There are more women LKDs and there are gender differences in the experiences of LKDs in their entire donation trajectory. The student will be involved in designing a gender analysis framework, recruitment of LKDs, conducting semi-structured interviews with LKDs, thematic data analysis and dissemination endeavours. They will receive supervision from Dr. Sandal and a gender analysis expert.

Requirements: Experience with qualitative methods and thematic analysis. Must be fluent in English and fluency in French and other languages is an asset. Looking for a post-doctoral researcher; however a student enrolled or planning to enrol in a PhD program in gender studies, social sciences, sociology or related field at the McGill University in the fall of 2024 is eligible. Have strong communication and writing skills. Experience with NVivo or other qualitative data analysis software is an asset.
