The Global Health Research Capacity Strengthening Program (GHR-CAPS) of the Quebec Population Health Research Network (QPHRN) promotes global health research within Canada and internationally. It aims to strengthen the research capacity of our future leaders in global health by creating opportunities for learning, skill development and personal growth. The objectives of GHR-CAPS are to: 1.) support the transition and integration of young researchers into the scientific community and 2.) foster an interdisciplinary approach in global health research. This year the QPHRN is putting emphasis on research that considers and addresses the principles of equity, inclusion and diversity in practice and policy.

Goal of the competition

GHR-CAPS is pleased to announce a call for proposals designed to further strengthen the global health research capacity of emerging researchers by supporting structuring initiatives (SI) led by postdoctoral fellows.

The project must be of international global health relevance (i.e., migrant health or conducted in/relevant to a low/middle-income country). Priority will be given to projects that consider the principles of equity, diversity or inclusion in relation to policy, practice and/or research aimed towards improving global health. Collaborations with researchers and/or students working and studying in institutions located in low-/middle-income countries, and/or who are members of a Quebec research network supported by the FRQS, are strongly encouraged and will be viewed positively in the evaluation process.
