Introduction

Le regroupement stratégique (RS) Éthique du réseau de recherche en santé des populations du Québec (RRSPQ) est heureux d’annoncer son programme d’appui à des publications scientifiques. Le but de ce programme est d’appuyer financièrement les membres du réseau pour la publication ou la création d’articles ou d’ouvrages scientifiques traitant d’un thème relié à l’éthique et la santé des populations. L’éthique sera ici entendue de manière large, aux dimensions normatives des questions liées par exemple à la justice sociale, la répartition des ressources, et ainsi de suite en santé des populations. Ces questions ne sont qu’à titre indicatif et non exhaustives. Les publications admissibles sont celles qui s’inscrivent dans la mission du RS Éthique du RRSPQ et qui permettent d’atteindre les objectifs de ce dernier (voir https://santepop.qc.ca/fr/regroupements/ethique).

Le soutien du Réseau peut couvrir :

  • Les frais d’édition et de traduction d’une publication scientifique
  • Les frais d’open access. Toutefois, les articles déjà publiés ne sont pas éligibles, à moins que la revue n’accepte de modifier la publication pour mentionner la participation financière du Réseau dans le manuscrit lors de la mise en open access. 
  • Sont également admissibles les frais liés au développement de productions scientifiques faisant usage des nouveaux médias de communication (web, CD-Rom, etc.)

Le soutien accordé par le RRSPQ ne peut pas être utilisé pour rémunérer un auteur ou un agent de recherche (par exemple pour effectuer une revue de littérature). 

Montant

Le montant du soutien accordé par le RS Éthique peut atteindre 3,000$. Deux bourses seront accordées.

Éligibilité

  • Tous les membres chercheurs réguliers et les membres étudiants du RRSPQ dont la publication traite d’un thème relié à la recherche en santé des populations sont admissibles à ce concours. 
  • Le candidat ou la candidate qui dépose la demande de soutien doit être le premier auteur de l’article.
  • Les publications, qui peuvent être en français ou en anglais, devront s’inscrire dans l’une des priorités stratégiques du RS Éthique. 
  • Les publications peuvent porter sur les problématiques de recherche en santé des populations, les méthodes ou des résultats de recherche inédits.
  • La publication d’un même ouvrage ne peut pas être financée plus d’une fois par le RRSPQ et/ou ses Regroupements stratégiques et Programmes de formation. 
  • Un même auteur peut déposer plusieurs soumissions ou apparaître comme co-auteur dans plusieurs soumissions aux concours actuels de soutien à la publication du RRSPQ et de ses RS. Toutefois, afin de donner un accès équitable à ce soutien à la publication au plus grand nombre de nos membres, un même auteur ne peut être financé plus d’une fois par année. Si un même auteur (quel qu'il soit) apparaît dans plusieurs soumissions, la priorité pourra être donnée à la soumission qui a obtenu le score le plus élevé lors de l’évaluation.
  • Un même membre Étudiant du RRSPQ peut déposer des soumissions à différents concours annuels du Réseau et de ses RS. Toutefois, il ne pourra bénéficier d'un support financier de plus de $5,000 par an.

Soumission des demandes

Les demandes doivent être soumises en un seul fichier attaché (Microsoft Word ou PDF) par courrier électronique en mentionnant en objet « Concours – Publications scientifiques » au plus tard le jour de la date limite de soumission à l’adresse suivante : admin-rrspq.ihsp@mcgill.ca

Évaluation des demandes

Les demandes seront évaluées par un comité mis sur pied par le RS Éthique et les résultats seront communiqués dans le mois suivant la soumission.

Critères d'évaluation

  • État d’avancement du projet – la priorité sera donnée aux projets les plus avancés
  • Une préférence sera accordée aux travaux qui seront le fruit de collaborations interdisciplinaires, interinstitutionnelles ou intersectorielles entre plusieurs auteurs. 
  • Qualité, originalité et caractère innovateur de la publication
  • Lien avec la mission, les objectifs et les priorités stratégiques du RS Éthique du RRSPQ
  • Capacité de soutenir l'avancement de la réflexion et de la recherche en éthique et la santé des populations; retombées pour la recherche et le partage de connaissances
  • Capacité de rayonnement national et international
  • Effet de levier: action structurante, nouvelles collaborations, visibilité pour le Québec
  • Pour les livres et autres productions scientifiques: qualité du plan de dissémination
  • Qualité du journal ou de la maison d’édition - ATTENTION AUX REVUES PRÉDATRICES! (Consultez: https://predatoryjournals.com/journals/) 

Engagements des récipiendaires

  • Les frais devront être avancés par les récipiendaires. Ils devront soumettre un rapport financier et un reçu de paiement pour obtenir un remboursement, jusqu’à concurrence de $3000.
  • Les auteurs devront informer le RRSPQ de l’évolution des démarches de publication. Dans l’hypothèse où la publication est refusée, ils s’engagent à resoumettre le manuscrit une seconde fois à une autre revue scientifique, après avoir apportés les modifications appropriées. Une copie de la publication publiée doit être envoyée au RRSPQ afin de servir de rapport scientifique.
  • Le financement du RS Éthique du RRSPQ devra impérativement être identifié dans la publication publiée.  Les formulations ci-dessous sont recommandées :
    "Les auteurs remercient le Regroupement stratégique Éthique du Réseau de recherche en santé des populations du Québec (RRSPQ) pour sa contribution au financement de cette publication."
    "The authors thank the Ethics Strategic Grouping of the Quebec Population Health Research Network (QPHRN) for its contribution to the financing of this publication".
  • Les lauréats acceptent de publier le titre et un résumé de leur publication (en français et anglais) sur le site web du RRSPQ, dès l’annonce de leur sélection.
  • Les auteurs qui seront financés devront faire une présentation orale issue de la publication lors de la journée scientifique annuelle qui suivra la parution de leur ouvrage, article, etc.

Support for scientific publications on a theme relating to Ethics and Population Health

 

Introduction

The Ethics and Integrity Strategic Grouping (SG) of the Quebec Population Health Research Network (QPHRN) is pleased to announce its support program for scientific publications. The purpose of this program is to financially support members of the network for the publication or creation of scientific articles or books or new media content dealing with a theme related to Ethics and Population Health. Ethics in this context is to be understood in a broad way, with the normative dimensions of issues related, for example, to social justice, the distribution of resources, and so on in the health of populations. These questions are only indicative and not exhaustive. Eligible publications are those that fall within the mission of the Ethics and Integrity SG of the QPHRN and that help to achieve the goals of the latter (see https://santepop.qc.ca/en/groups/ethics).

Network support can cover:

  • Publishing and translation costs of a scientific publication
  • The costs of open access. However, articles already published are not eligible, unless the journal agrees to modify the publication to mention the financial participation of the Network in the manuscript when creating open access.
  • Also eligible are costs related to the development of scientific productions making use of new communication media (web, CD-Rom, etc.)

The support granted by the QPHRN can not be used to remunerate an author or a research agent (for example to carry out a literature review).

Amount

The amount of support provided by the Ethics and Integrity SG can reach up $ 3,000. Two scholarships will be awarded.

Eligibility

  • All regular research members and student members of the QPHRN whose publication deals with a theme related to Ethics and Population Health research are eligible for this competition.
  • The candidate who submits the application for support must be the first author of the article.
  • Publications, which may be in French or in English, must be part of one of the strategic priorities of the Ethics and Integrity SG (see https://santepop.qc.ca/en/groups/ethics).
  • Publications may focus on ethics and population health research issues, methods or unpublished research findings.
  • The publication of the same book, article or new medium can not be funded more than once by the QPHRN and / or its Strategic Groupings and Training Programs.
  • The same author may submit several submissions or appear as co-author in several submissions to the current publication support competitions of the QPHRN and its strategic groupings. However, in order to give equitable access to this publication support to as many of our members as possible, the same author can not be funded more than once a year. If the any author appears in more than one submission, priority may be given to the submission that obtained the highest score during the evaluation.
  • A same QPHRN student member can apply to various annual competitions launched by the QPHRN and its SG but he/she cannot be awarded more than $5,000 per year.

Applications must be submitted in one attachment (Microsoft Word or PDF) by e-mail with the subject line "Competitions - Scientific Publications" no later than the deadline date for submission to the following address: admin-rrspq.ihsp@mcgill.ca

Content of requests

Assessment of requests

Applications will be evaluated by a committee established by the Ethics and Integrity SG and results will be announced to authors within one month of submission.

Evaluation criteria

  • Status of the project - priority will be given to the most advanced projects
  • Preference will be given to work that will be the result of interdisciplinary, interinstitutional or intersectoral collaboration between several authors.
  • Quality, originality and innovative character of the publication
  • Link to the mission, objectives and strategic priorities of the Ethics and Integrity SG of the QPHRN
  • Ability to support the advancement of ethical thinking and research and population health; spin-offs for research and knowledge sharing
  • National and international outreach capacity
  • Leverage effect: structuring action, new collaborations, visibility for Québec
  • For books and other scientific productions: quality of the dissemination plan
  • Quality of the newspaper or publishing house - ATTENTION TO PREDATORY REVIEWS! (See: https://predatoryjournals.com/journals/)

Recipient Commitments

  • The fees must be advanced by the recipients. They will be required to submit a financial report and a payment receipt for a refund, up to $ 3000.
  • Authors must inform the QPHRN about the evolution of publication procedures. In the event that publication is refused, they undertake to resubmit the manuscript a second time to another scientific journal, after having made the appropriate modifications. A copy of the published publication must be sent to the QPHRN to serve as a scientific report.
  • The financing of the Ethics and Integrity SG of the QPHRN must imperatively be identified in the published publication. The formulations below are recommended:
    "The authors thank the Ethics and Integrity Strategic Grouping of the Quebec Population Health Research Network (QPHRN) for its contribution to the funding of this publication."
    "The authors thank the Ethics and Integrity Strategic Grouping of the Quebec Population Health Research Network (QPHRN) for its contribution to the financing of this publication".
  • The laureates agree to publish the title and a summary of their publication (in French and in English) on the QPHRN's website, as soon as their selection is announced.
  • The authors who will be funded will have to make an oral presentation regarding the publication during the annual scientific day following the publication of their work, article, etc.
